What is Telehealth and how effective is it?
Telehealth is a Medicare initiative that has recently become a permanent service in our health system since it played a critical role in the ensuring the continuity of care for hundreds of thousands of Australia patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Up to date evidence-based findings have demonstrated that the outcomes of telehealth services are just as effective than face to face therapy in establishing a therapeutic relationship between the client and psychologist as well as effectiveness in a variety of therapeutic formats with a diverse range of populations.
Who can benefit from Telehealth therapy?
Telehealth therapy is suitable for a range of individuals such as those juggling commitments at work, stay home mums and dads with their young children, or even caring for a family member. Others include those who have a physical condition that makes travel time consuming and/or difficult, someone suffering from anxiety, and those who live in rural or remote or even regional area with the flexibility of saving travel time.
